Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Notium collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website, apps, and related services. It is a general description of our practices and is not legal advice.
1. Overview
Notium is a writing assistant designed for students. We help you research, outline, and refine your own work, and we give you tools to scan drafts before you submit them. We do not submit assignments for you and we do not decide what you turn in.
By using Notium you agree that your use of the service is covered by this Privacy Policy and by our Terms of Use.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in a few ways when you use Notium.
- Account information. When you create an account we collect details such as your name, email address, password, and plan type.
- Workspace content. This includes documents you upload, text you paste into the app, prompts you write, feedback you give, classes you set up, and other content you create while using Notium.
- Usage data. We collect limited technical data such as pages visited, features used, device information, approximate location, and timestamps so we can keep the service secure and improve performance.
- Payment information. If you purchase a paid plan, our payment processor handles your card details. We receive basic billing and subscription information and do not store full card numbers.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect for purposes such as:
- Providing and maintaining the Notium service, including generating suggestions based on your prompts and documents.
- Remembering your tones, writing profiles, classes, and settings so the assistant can stay consistent with your voice.
- Running AI detection scans and showing you reports so you can understand how a draft might look to automated tools.
- Monitoring for abuse, protecting against spam or attacks, and enforcing our Terms of Use.
- Debugging, analytics, and product research that helps us improve features and reliability.
- Communicating with you about updates, new features, and important account notifications.
4. Using your content to train and improve our models
To make Notium better over time, we may use your workspace content and usage data to improve our models and detection systems. This can include improving rewriting quality, tone matching, class memory, and AI detection resilience.
When we use your content for model improvement we aim to remove direct identifiers where it is practical to do so, and we handle the data under access controls similar to the rest of the service. Aggregated or de identified data may also be used for analytics and product development.
If you are not comfortable with your content being used in this way you should avoid putting sensitive or highly confidential information into Notium, and you can contact us to ask about additional options.
5. Sharing and third parties
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these situations:
- Service providers. We work with trusted vendors for hosting, storage, analytics, email, payments, and similar services. They only receive the information needed to perform their work for us.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if we believe it is required by law or necessary to protect our users, our company, or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or similar event, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
6. Your choices and rights
You can update or delete some information directly in your Notium account settings. You may also request that we remove or export your data, subject to our need to keep certain records for security, billing, or legal reasons.
If you are using Notium through a school or institution, some privacy rights and controls may be seen by that organization, and we are not responsible to any damages made or created due to Notium.
7. Contact and changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as our product or laws change. When we make significant updates we will adjust the effective date and, when reasonable, notify you in the app or by email.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your data, you can contact us at [email protected].
